▌Networking 101 – Modems and Routers
About
Networking 101 – Modems and Routers is an eLearning course that provides learners with an overview of how modems and routers function, both independently and together, to deliver Internet access and network connectivity to everyday computing devices, such as laptops, smartphones, and streaming devices.
The idea for this course originated from E-Learning Heroes Challenge #398 – Using E-Learning to Show How Things Work and my professional background in technical communication, where I created work instructions for computer hardware assembly, software configuration, and networking.
Additionally, I have set up and supported many home networks for my friends and family. Most of whom couldn’t tell you which device was which. To them, they are just “boxes” that sit in the corner or next to their TVs, allowing them to watch Netflix or browse the Internet. So, I wanted to create some training to bring them up to speed.
Learning Objectives
By the end of the course, learners will be able to:
Define the purpose of the modem and router.
Explain how these devices work in conjunction to provide Internet access and network connectivity.
